The MT 523 was introduced by Manitou in France last year as a pre-production model. The compact machine is now production ready; with its small sizean overall width of 1.8 m (6 ft) and height of 2 m (6.5 ft)the rough-terrain vehicle is suitable for restricted building sites, renovations, storage depots, and other space-constrained environments.
The machine provides a lighting height of 4.9 m (16 ft), a nominal capacity of 2300 kg (5070 lb), and a maximum front reach of 2.8 m (9 ft). The MT 523 offers "generous" ground clearance, a turning circle of 3.1 m (10 ft), and three steering modes: four-wheel, two-wheel, and crab steering. The hydrostatic transmission and 52-hp (39-kW) Perkins engine provide flexibility for demanding handling operations. It offers a spacious cab with easy access, with attachments that include forks and buckets. With forks, the machine has a mass of 5010 kg (11,045 lb).
